Clifford Geertz:
The Interpretation of cultures.
New York: Basic Books, 1973. 480 pp.  $ 15,00

This book consists of a group of 14 previously published essays by Geertz, along with an excellent new introductory essay outlining Geertz's views on the nature of understanding of the social world that cultural anthropology can give us. Though the essays cover a wide range of topics, they are unified by their central concern with the concept of culture and with the nature of anthropological interpretation.
